Watch: seminars on jet leg and physiological dynamics of recovery
Collaborators
The Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance co-hosted a “Talks in English” lecture with Stanford BioX to highlight the science of human performance. “Talks in English” is a Bio-X lecture series that features jargon-free lectures and discussions on a broad range of scientific research.
Check out the seminars with Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance faculty Jamie Zeitzer and Todd Coleman:
Talks in English (T.I.E.): Jamie Zeitzer – Jet Lag and Human Performance: Why are we in the ACC?
Jamie Zeitzer talks about circadian rhythms, explaining how our biological clocks govern daily cycles and influence everything from sleep patterns to jet lag and sports performance. Stay tuned for the Q&A at the end of the lecture to get tips on melatonin, the power of light for jet lag, and the importance of synchronization between gut, muscle, and sleep circadian rhythms.
Want to learn more about jet lag? Read our Human Performance Playbook article with Dr. Zeitzer: Beating Jet Lag: A Guide to Strategic Light Exposure

Talks in English (T.I.E.): Todd Coleman – Molecular and Physiological Dynamics of Recovery to Attain Peak Performance
Todd Coleman discusses wearables and sleep, the acquisition of multi-omics data from athletes, monitoring inflammatory markers during injuries, and utilizing all this data for enhancing recovery processes. Coleman and Wu Tsai Performance Postdoctoral Fellow Morgan Smith chat about their work on constructing an informed model that integrates diverse datasets to provide personalized information. They aim to make this process more reliable and efficient so they can monitor athletes closely and make informed decisions based on the data they collect.
