A Blueprint for Resilience:
Tara VanDerveer in conversation with
Susan King Borchardt
VanDerveer and Borchardt will discuss their journeys in sport and how the research and sports community can work together to support performance and resilience for female athletes across the lifespan.
Tara VanDerveer
Tara VanDerveer is the second-winningest coach in NCAA basketball history, and one of the top coaches in the sport, both collegiately and internationally. An ambassador for both Stanford University and the sport of college basketball, VanDerveer enjoyed an unprecedented level of success through an energetic and positive approach to the game, accounting for 85% of Stanford’s total victories in her 38 seasons at the Farm, the majority of her 45-year career as a collegiate head coach. Perhaps one of VanDerveer’s most notable attributes was her ability to connect with student-athletes; she was not only one of the nation’s premier recruiters, but also had numerous players go on to successful professional careers.
Susan King Borchardt
Susan King Borchardt, a former Stanford point guard (Class of 2005, Psychology with a specialization in Health and Development), brings over 17 years of experience in high-performance athlete development. As Director of The Athlete Blueprint and Director of Performance & Recovery at Unrivaled, she embraces the opportunity to work with some of the best female athletes in the world. Susan also served as the performance coach for the U.S. Women’s National Basketball Team during the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games and consults for multiple WNBA teams and top NCAA programs. In addition to her elite athletes, as a mother of 4, she is passionate about sharing performance preparation with the next generation of athletes.
