AWARD OVERVIEW

The Wu Tsai Performance Undergraduate Research Program is built to train the next generation of leaders in human performance, and a key part of that training is sharing your work with and beyond the scientific community. The Conference Travel Award supports you in your ongoing journey as a leader in human performance.

After completing the Wu Tsai Performance Undergraduate Research Program, alumni who go on to present their research at a scientific conference can apply for up to $1,000 in reimbursement for travel, registration, and lodging.

WHAT’S COVERED

The award reimburses up to $1,000 in documented expenses, including:

• Conference registration fees
• Economy airfare and/or ground transportation
• Hotel or lodging for the duration of the conference

Expenses are reimbursed after the conference upon submission of receipts. The award covers actual expenses up to the maximum $1,000. Meals, incidentals, and non-conference travel are not covered.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for the Travel Award, you must:

• Be an alumnus of the Wu Tsai Performance Undergraduate Research Program at Stanford
• Not have previously received this travel award
• Be presenting original human performance research at the conference — as a poster, oral presentation, or lightning talk
• Have received confirmation of acceptance or abstract acceptance from the conference
• The conference travel must be completed before December 31, 2030

The research you present does not need to be the project you completed during the program. Any original scientific work that is relevant to human performance, as assessed by our Education Team, qualifies. The award is available to scholars once.

WHAT COUNTS AS A CONFERENCE?

The award is intended for peer-reviewed or juried scientific conferences, events where abstracts or papers are reviewed before acceptance. Examples include discipline-specific research conferences, interdisciplinary science meetings, and national or regional professional society conferences.

The award is not intended for invited talks, workshops, industry events, or non-peer-reviewed symposia. If you’re unsure whether your conference qualifies, reach out and we’re happy to advise before you apply.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We recommend applying when you receive confirmation that your abstract has been accepted to allow time for review and any follow-up questions.

To apply, you’ll need to provide the following information:

• • Your name
  • Your current role
  • Your Stanford graduation year
  • Your Wu Tsai Performance Undergraduate Program year
  • The conference name, location, and dates
  • Abstract of the research you’ll be presenting
  • Confirmation that you’ll acknowledge the Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance in your presentation and use the logo found at https://humanperformance.stanford.edu/media-center/

You’ll hear back within 2 weeks of submitting. If approved, you’ll receive a confirmation email with instructions for next steps.
